About me

About Christopher“I’ve always had this thing about living a creative life, living as if I am the best version of myself possible. Then taking that philosophy, and making everyone else happy through my work.”

BORN FROM A DESIRE TO CREATE...

What started in early childhood as a passion to create developed into a love for large pieces of textured artwork.

Having begun as a child spending thousands of hours at a desk sketching and drawing intricate pencil artworks (mostly of exotic cars, landscapes and portraits) developed over time to include the study of architectural drawing and graphic design at the university of Canberra.

Because of the nature of Architecture and how the art of Architecture draws its cues from a variety of sources and methods; he was educated in sculpture, life drawing and computer animation.

Throughout this period of study - while working odd jobs in construction and hospitality he became fascinated by cooking and food design. Through the relentless struggle and innovative methods of the worlds greatest chefs he was inspired to become obsessed about whatever it was he was creating in the restaurant space, all the while still focussed on the dream of creating large acrylic artworks in his limited spare time.

Because of this hunger for creative education he spent many nights sleepless in order to learn as much as he could about film making as well as the fine art of painting so that he could transition to a world of full time painting.

Being inspired and taking elements from old masters as well as modern graffiti art, Christopher has developed a style which he describes as one that best represents his personality and character - full of vibrance, passion, motivation and energy.

The materials for the frames are a nod to his days in construction, made of structural pine and the heavy gauge screws typical of a work site, all canvas is fixed by hand with love.

Depending on the work, from conception to completion can vary from anywhere between 7 and 45 days.

The final work though, is stunningly beautiful and engaging when viewed face to face. The combination of texture and colours which seem unusual for the objects being painted feel familiar and at home on the canvas upon completion. Because of the scale and method he uses, the works change depending on light, distance, angle of view and time of day giving you a new perspective every time you view them.

A powerful reflection on the world around us - that not everything can be seen at first glance. Life, much like art requires study and constant evaluation for a true and deep appreciation.
